Scenes from Herlufsholm Boarding School – A gift for graduating students.
A moving sculpture that offers new perspectives, rooted in the original architecture. Herlufsholm School, founded in 1565, is rich in history. The school’s old, distinctive buildings exude a sense of solidity and dignity, signaling that traditions are upheld here, enduring through the test of time. The architecture conveys respect for tradition, with historical layers beautifully intertwined.
"It is with great pleasure that we have collaborated with KOLEKTO on Scenes from Herlufsholm. This is a gift we proudly presented to selected students at transfer and graduation,"
Mikkel Kjellberg, Principal, Herlufsholm
In collaboration with Principal Mikkel Kjellberg, we selected a series of facade motifs from Herlufsholm School, designed to interlock and form silhouettes that crisscross each other.
The silhouettes, featuring fragments of Herlufsholm’s distinct facades, are inspired by the school’s original architecture. As these facades intertwine in new configurations, fresh scenes and perspectives emerge, transforming the design into a dynamic, moving sculpture. The new structures that form when the facades are combined in various ways remain anchored in the original architecture, ensuring that the distinctive atmosphere and character of Herlufsholm are always present, no matter how the compositions evolve.
The building’s silhouettes serve as a decorative piece for the home, offering a heartfelt gift from Herlufsholm and a lasting memory of time spent at one of Denmark’s oldest schools.
