The lifeguard tower at Bellevue Beach in Klampenborg is one of the most elegant small works by Danish architect Arne Jacobsen. Designed in the 1930s as part of the Bellevue seaside development north of Copenhagen, the tower reflects Jacobsen’s fascination with functionalism and modern leisure culture.

Painted in its distinctive blue-and-white stripes, the tower combines practicality with sculptural simplicity. Its clean geometric lines, spiral staircase, and light elevated form make it appear almost nautical, like the bridge of a ship overlooking the Øresund coast. Though modest in scale, it has become an iconic example of Danish modernist design.
